Passo del Vivione
Passo del Vivione

Left: The ascent through the forested Valle Paisco is rewarding. A reasonably quiet zigzag road with nice, but not extreme grades.
Right: the pass in itself is OK, but not spectacular.

The Passo del Vivione is one of the less well-known passes south of Edolo, despite being incorporated in the Giro d'Italia of 1981, 2004 and 2008. It deserves more attention, given the most pleasant climb from Malonno.

Note that the main access road to the Valle Paisco (SS294) starts in the village of Forno Allione.

We have decided to cycle up and down the Valle Paisco, but there are possibilities for making round trips. For example:
(i) Malonno - Passo del Vivione - Schilpario - Breno (Val Camonica) - Malonno (90 km), or
(ii)
Malonno - Passo del Vivione - Schilpario - Passo della Presolana (1297 m) - Boario Terme (Val Camonica) - Breno - Malonno (95 km).
When retuning to Malonno you are forced to take the SS42 for at least the last 15 km.
